REVIEW: Glysolid Glycerin Cream

The feet are the most used and abused part of our body so they actually need some TLC. Recently, I noticed that the heels of my feet were cracking... eeeekkk!!! If you slide silk on it, I'm sure it'll get stuck. Not sexy! That's when I knew that I've been neglecting my feet.

A few weeks ago, I was cleaning some parts of our house and I found a couple of tubs of Glysolid Glycerin cream from Saudi Arabia (my uncle works there and he always gives us this). Hmmmmm... why not try this? I thought to myself.

Glycerin is a humectant which means it keeps stuff moist. If you use this, it quickly restores softness, smoothness and elasticity of the skin. The active ingredients in Glysolid are Glycerin (skin softener) and Allantoin (stimulates skin cell regeneration and the healing of small injuries, scrapes and minor burns).

ACCORDING TO THE PACKAGING:
Glysolid is the advanced European formula that helps to smooth, soften and protect rough, chapped and extra dry skin on the hands, feet and entire body. With Allantoin and a high Glycerine content, this proven skin care cream greatly improves the look and feel of the dry skin in just one application. Non-greasy, Glysolid penetrates the skin in seconds and works for hours.

PACKAGING:
The cream is contained in a tin can which is easily deformed. Nothing special with its packaging.

INGREDIENTS:
Aqua, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Decyl Oleate, Ceteareth-12, Allantoin, Sodium Cetearyl Sulfate, Ceteareth-20, Dimethicone, Silica, Parfum ( Coumarin, Benzyl Salicylate, Linalool, Limonene, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Benzoate, Geraniol, Isoeugenol) 2-Bromo-2 Nitropropane-1, 3 Diol, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

SCENT:
The smell is like that of a baby powder.

SIZES:
80 ml
110 ml
125 ml
250 ml

PRICE:
I don't know since our supply is just given by my uncle but I did a bit of research and turns out that it's priced at around 250php online for the 110 ml.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Apply a thin film on the dry skin sparingly. I also cover this up with socks overnight and I wake up with baby-smooth feet.

WHAT I LIKE:
  • Glycerin in Glysolid is vegetable-based.
  • It's cheap when bought in Middle East countries.
  • Instantly softens the skin.
  • Healed my cracked heels and is also good for removal of calluses.
  • Mild scent.
  • Non- greasy.
  • A little product goes a long way.
  • There's a manufacturing and an expiry date.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
  • A bit messy to apply.
  • Unhygienic due to scooping out of the product from the tin can using your hands if you don't have a spatula or scoop.
  • Can be a bit sticky if you put too much.
  • Cannot be found easily in the market.

MY RATING: 9/10

Have you tried Glysolid Cream?

New Blogger?

I just got off my daily conversation with The Boyfriend and at 1 AM PI time, I should be snuggled up in my bed right now and just enjoy the cozy night (the rain is like a magnet to my bed). But here I am, still trying to organize my thoughts and put it into a blog post.

"Make a blog post today!" has been playing on my mind the whole day while I was out and about, doing my thing. Our last topic, with The BF, was about stepping up my game with blogging (he's that supportive). One thing about me is that whenever I put my mind on something, nobody or nothing can stop me from doing it (Anybody here whose astrology sign is Leo???). Sometimes I'll try to persuade myself, "just do it tomorrow. you've plenty of time" but it never works; I practically suffer from insomnia the whole freaking night because ideas flood my brain. So yes, doing it is the best way to save myself from torture and mental agony.

Anyway....

I was mentally sorting through products that I wanted to do a review while I was running to and fro the grocery store isles (talk about multitasking) this afternoon; however, I couldn't make up my mind! The moment I got home, I immediately did my evening chores/routine so I could check out some beauty and lifestyle blogs for inspiration. I was impressed on how the blogging industry in the Philippines has become at par with the international ones; I could tell from the aesthetics of the blog as well as the content were mostly (I would say 95%) "professional" A.K.A. of brands and advertorials. I think I went through at least twenty blogs but it seemed that I haven't found 'something'.

Call me old fashioned but I still enjoy reading or seeing videos (on YouTube) about a certain event of that blogger's life or personal musings---no matter how trivial it may seem to be. There's just this element of realness that is so appealing to me (and to a few thousands more), it gives a raw connection between the blogger and his/her reader. It's knowing that this person that I've been following, have looked up to is just like me; had her heart broken, runs errands but actually left her wallet at home, is a sucker for some old Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys. There's nothing wrong with sponsored posts or advertorials though because, girl, we all need some moolah (money)!

To wrap this musing, here's my unsolicited advice to budding bloggers or those that are contemplating on joining the bandwagon---write about what you love and know. It'll help in getting you started in the industry and this is what will keep you going when all else fails. It's all about passion, baby! Let your blog be your voice in the vast world of the web, so write from the heart! If you want to write about your family, go ahead. If you want to write about Star Wars, go ahead. If you want to write about your 3 AM trip to McDonald's because you craved for a double cheese burger, go ahead. And of course, even if you're writing  a sponsored post, still write with your heart in it.

There's only one YOU in this world, be proud and strut it! *wink*

WHY I LOVE THRIFT SHOPPING AND WHY YOU SHOULD TOO!

I vaguely remember the time that I was introduced to the marvelous world of thrift shopping or "ukay-ukay" for us Filipinos; but boy did I fall in love with it! It makes me shiver with a lot of blood pumping on my system each time that I find myself on my way to thrift shopping, almost like being in a long distance relationship and you finally meet the love of your life in person! Or, maybe just seeing him/her after a long time of separation. Whatever, but you get what I mean right?

To fully understand my fascination with this bustle, I'm giving you my top seven reasons why I love thrift shopping and why you should too!

Mother Earth- friendly.  We're all aware of the capitalist modes of production--- produce at high rates with the lowest cost possible. These procedures have been extremely detrimental to the human life and the natural world. Plus, it's a great way to recycle. You can donate clothes and buy more clothes, eliminating waste in the process.

Economical. Have you heard of the saying, "More bang out of your buck"? I guess this was tailored to thrift shopping. Let's be honest, most of us go thrift shopping for this reason: bargains. The last time I went thrift shopping, I spent 200 PHP (approx. 5 USD) with five items on my hands; whereas if I went shopping for brand new clothes, that amount wouldn't even make me purchase a single item that I like!

Finding designer or high-end brands. Yes, and at a fraction of its cost! Personally, living in Iloilo (Philippines), we don't get a lot of designer or high-end brands in malls. My eyes get big whenever I see at thrift stores Armani Exchange, Dolce & Gabbana or perhaps J. Crew pieces that I like; but wait 'til I discover that it only costs 100 PHP (approx. 2 USD) per item! I cry. Seriously.

One-of-a-kind pieces for fashion. Purchase clothing from malls and you'll most likely run into someone wearing the exact thing. Thrift stores have a more diverse assortment of clothing. Also, with these pieces that you can find you can definitely mix and match, discover your style and have a unique one, too!

Hunting for treasures. There's something about entering a thrift shop that is just packed with potential. Shopping for second hand lets you dig through the racks for your personal treasures; and since there's still a little bit of stigma associated with it, there's not much competition as there should be for designer brands or vintage items that can add a spike to your fashion statement. Then, you can find items that are no longer being made.

Instill good shopping habits to your children. For parents, taking your kids to thrift shopping is passing on to them knowledge and a strategy of finding good, quality products while saving money.

Fun, fun, fun! I don't know about you but digging through the racks and trying to think of creative ways to style clothing is fun for me. There are items that only need upcycling or re-fashion and they'll make a bad-ass addition to your fashion collection. It can be a good bonding moment with family and friends, too!

I'm sharing to you my latest "Ukay" finds and how I styled them together:

Uniqlo tee and Zara sandals for 125 PHP (approx. 3 USD)

Black basic tee from Uniqlo, chunky black & gold necklace from a boutique called Gorgeous, huge faux gold watch from Von, white worn-out jeans from Elegance. I like wearing basics because I can have fun experimenting it with accessories and it definitely looks classy.

Happy 2016!!!

Happy new year to all, happy 2016! It's funny how I'm sitting here with my coffee while listening to the best of Tchaikovsky playlist on YouTube, looking at this blog realizing that I haven't laid a finger on it for more than a year! Geez luis! Where has time gone??

2015 was definitely a restless year for me..errrr..for the most part. I was traveling the Philippines especially going forth and back Iloilo-Manila for a mixture of business and pleasure; it was good while it lasted. However for 2016, I decided to stay put thereby giving me a lot of leeway to recoup my blog and my YouTube channel.

Blogging/vlogging is really my passion and I foresee myself doing those things for as long as I can, wherever I am in the world. ;) I may be off for a while but like a story in the Bible, The Prodigal Son, I'll always come home. Now that's some kind of an analogy right there! Haha! :)

I'll be back to "regular programming" anytime soon and I'm pretty excited about it!

Thank you so much for sticking around; I'm praying for an abundant and happy 2016 for us all!

Here's a recent picture of me, just in case you're wondering how I look now. LOL! :)

New Generation of Samsung Digital Appliances offers Solutions for Energy Efficiency and Space

Technology is ever evolving, but it has always been aimed at aiding everyday tasks. Samsung has taken on the higher pursuit of offering people a better lifestyle. Thus, armed with state-of-the-art electronics and a passion for innovation, Samsung has come up with their new lineup of digital household appliances that will ensure a happy home.

Air Conditioner With Triangle Design

Among their breakthrough inventions is their new air conditioner with triangle design. In a country that is notorious for its sweltering summers, a proper air conditioner is almost mandatory. But the difference between this new Smart Air Conditioner and an conventional air conditioner is clear. It does not just produce cool air; it has been tailored to be more efficient and cost-effective in this task. Thanks to its carefully engineered triangle design which allows for bigger fans within a more compact body. Thus, it circulates cool air faster, farther, and wider while maintaining a sleek look.

The new Smart Air Conditioner is equipped with Samsung’s Digital Inverter Technology. It can maintain the desired temperature without frequently shutting off and on, so it consumes less energy. The Digital Inverter Technology helps users to stay comfortable for long periods of time, while using the minimum amount of energy – of up to 60% less electricity than conventional air conditioners.

Designed to be outstandingly efficient, its uniquely triangular design has a wider inlet, wider outlet and a bigger fan to ensure that air is cooled and expelled faster (26%), farther (14m meters) and wider (39%) – ensuring even air distribution and powerful cooling.

Also, the new air conditioner begins cooling the air fast using its powerful Fast Cool mode, to cool down the room faster. It then automatically changes the mode to Comfort Cool to maintain the desired temperature. Users won’t feel cold and don’t have to keep manually changing the settings or turning the air conditioner on and off.

Energy efficiency is a key purchasing decision for consumers. The Samsung Air Conditioner’s Single User mode gives the flexibility to the user to control the capacity by effective use of energy. It uses less compressor capacity, reducing power consumption, while still providing a cool and comfortable environment. This ensures that users won’t have to worry about the electricity bill even if there’s only one person in the room.

The new Samsung Air Conditioner features Samsung’s exclusive Virus Doctor that keeps families safe and comfortable through innovative air purifying technology, which neutralizes harmful contaminants in the air. The Virus Doctor feature has received various accolades including a 2010 AHR Expo Innovation Award in the indoor air-quality category, a 1st Air Day Minister of the Environmental Award, and the Jang Young Sil Award. Now, mothers need not worry about air-born viruses and allergens with Samsung’s Virus Doctor technology.

Stylish and Smart, the pure Crystal Gloss™ finish and uniquely curved design of the Samsung Air Conditioner deliver a premium look. Like aerodynamic, high performance sports cars, every aspect of its streamlined body is encased in dual-injected, transparent material for an elegant finish that blends seamlessly into any modern home.

Using an application on a smartphone, the Smart Wi-Fi function lets users remotely control the functions of the Samsung Air Conditioner to schedule its operation. In any location with a wireless network, users can instantly turn it on and off and select the operating mode as well as temperature. Additionally, the air conditioner is able to communicate operational time and electricity usage as well as providing filter cleaning reminders. The unit can also store preferred operational settings and cooling preferences.

The Smart Installation is a self-diagnosis feature that ensures the air conditioner is installed perfectly by the aircon installer. It automatically checks for installation faults that might cause problems when the air conditioner starts operating.

The Smart Check automatic error-monitoring system detects and diagnoses problems and provides easy troubleshooting solutions using a smartphone application. It saves users time and prevents unnecessary costs prior to a service call.

Food ShowCase Refrigerator

Part of their new lineup also includes the new Food Showcase Refrigerator. This innovation provides smart organization for all your different types of food. There are two layers of doors in order to properly showcase the contents of the refrigerator, making it much easier to visualize your stocks. There are the outer compartments for your most frequently used products, allowing instant access. And then there are the inner compartments for ingredients that you don’t use as often. Not only does this maximize space, this setup makes organizing and consuming food a simple process. Everyone in the family, including the children can access refrigerator contents with ease.

The new Food ShowCase Refrigerator also features an ice and water dispenser. At the touch of a button, users can enjoy a refreshing glass of chilled filtered water or fill a pitcher with cubed or crushed ice.

This refrigerator is also equipped with Samsung’s trademark Digital Inverter Technology. This means that the refrigerator utilizes the same smart technology that allows it to adjust its temperature accordingly. Thus, no unnecessary energy is consumed, making this an efficient and cost-effective appliance.

Front Load Washing Machine with Eco-Bubble Technology

Another addition to their lineup of smart appliances is the Front Load Washing Machine. Doing the laundry is an arduous and time-consuming task. There are many things to consider when it comes to washing fabric, but Samsung’s newest Front Load Washing Machine makes cleaning clothes a breeze. It makes use of Samsung’s own Eco Bubble Technology that allows powerful cleaning in cold water. Using warm water is an extra step when it comes to doing the laundry, and it can also be damaging to some fabrics. But the Eco Bubble allows for easy cleaning by completely dissolving detergent even with cold water producing fine foam that easily penetrates the fabric for both effective and gentle, cutting the time, effort, and energy needed in doing this task.

In addition to being extremely powerful with its high Revolution Per Minute (RPM) rate, it is also furnished with the Stain Away Program. This pre-programmed cycle was designed to deal with the 12 most common types of stains: blood, cocoa, sebum, oatmeal, tea, wine, tomato, pencil lead, mud, makeup, lipstick, and grass. It does all this with less noise, less vibration, and more performance than an ordinary washing machine. And of course, it is outfitted with the Digital Inverter Technology, guaranteeing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Samsung Smart Oven

Last on Samsung’s latest digital appliance lineup is the Samsung Smart Oven. The Samsung Smart Oven comes with more cooking settings in order to provide families with the best cooking experience possible. It includes features such as auto-cook for pre-programmed recipes yogurt making, dough proofing, and “Slim Fry” function. Slimfry function is what differentiates this from the typical Microwave Oven, since preparing meals no longer has to be an unhealthy experience.

The “Slim Fry” technology allows you to enjoy your favourite fried food cooked to a crisp without the oil. Cooking healthier meals for the family without cutting on taste and texture is now made possible. Meanwhile, the other smart features this smart oven has fulfilled a multitude of purposes. Its premium sensors allows it identify a food’s surface temperature, so whether it is frozen, chilled, or fresh, it can adjust its heat accordingly so you do not have to worry about overcooking or undercooking your meals. This makes it a great addition to any household.

How to Lose Weight Fast

My transformation :)
I gained weight the past few months, well, I got out of proportions! :) However, I finally got back into my senses that I need to do something about it when people have been pointing out how 'healthy' I looked.

I and my closest family circle noticed the rapid weight loss as early as four days of doing the things that I'll be mentioning in this post. Now, I'm not here to tell you that you'll also lose weight as fast as I did, well, you may, but who knows? What's important is that YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT FAST. I am not a dietitian, however, these tips were obtained from my constant research and definitely worked for me.

Let's head on to the tips.

1. Drink a glass of COLD water after waking up
I mean right after you mumug (wash your mouth). This speeds up the body's metabolism rate by 30%. Our friend, metabolism, is our body's ability to burn calories. If you have a high metabolism, you are most likely not to gain weight (or fast, to say the least).

2. Drink a glass of water before each meal
It'll fill your stomach even before you munch on your food, so, you'll end up not eating a lot on your meal.

3. Eat breakfast an hour after waking up
Eating early will help keep your insulin and blood sugar levels regulated while kick-starting your metabolism.

4. Eat until you're 80% full
How can you tell? It's when you feel that you've had enough already, then stop eating. Sometimes, we tend to go overboard, keeps on eating, especially when the food's really good. Errrrr... I was guilty of this. Our stomach is a flexible muscle; its original size is about a closed fist but it expands when it's filled with a lot of food. When it's expanded, you'll also need a bunch of food just to feel that you've had enough.

5. Eat frequently
These are small, frequent meals to stabilize sugar levels. Once your sugar levels are stabilized, you won't crave something sugary. I personally eat five times in a day (3 meals, 2 snacks) and I find that it helps me to control my proportions.

6. Eat on a smaller plate
They say that the safe size would be as small as a hand. This will trick your brain that you have a lot of food on your plate when in fact, you only have small proportions. Thus, you'll not feel that you've deprived yourself. And please, refrain from refilling your plate. It'll defeat the purpose of weight loss.

7. Only eat rice during breakfast
Since I am a Filipino (and proud of it), I cannot fully go away from eating rice. I grew up loving rice and consider it as a staple part of my meal each day, however, rice is not "weight loss friendly". So, I tamed myself to cut down my rice intake each day--- from three times, to only having it once. Don't totally cut off carbs in your diet because the body will stop burning carbs (which you may obtain from other food) and stores it in the body. Hello, body fat! Anyway, for lunch and dinner, I would usually have fruits, viand or hard-boiled egg.

8. Snack on healthy food
Ditch the white bread, soda, chips and exchange for fruits, vegetables or hard-boiled egg. I personally like eating wheat crackers and oatmeal cookies just to provide a variety.

9. Stay away from white food (bad carbohydrates)
"White food" is artificial carbohydrates which makes it bad; examples are white bread, pasta etc. Go for something that has wheat instead of "white".

10. Ditch soda/pop/carbonated drink
One regular sized bottle of soda contains at least twelve spoonfuls of sugar. Yes! So imagine if you drink multiple times of soda in a day. Soda contributes to bloating and getting rid of it will do your tummy a huge favor. I used to be a heavy drinker of soda and I admit that letting go of it was a struggle for me. What I did was to drink water every time I crave for soda; finally got over the craving and water is soooo good for the body, too!

11. Cut down artificial sugar
It's a no brainer what artificial sugar can do to our body--- it causes diabetes, it makes you hyperactive and advocates obesity. This is one of the things that I had to let go too because I used to love mi chocolates (how about one bar of Snickers a day?). However, since I've been doing things that enable me to stabilize my blood sugar level (refer above), it wasn't as hard as I expected it to be. Now, I turn to my fruits and honey for natural sugar.

 12. Drink Green tea
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is a potent extract of green tea; it increases the rate of the fat burned in the body. This targets the abdominal fat and stabilizes our energy levels; stabilized energy levels means a stabilized sugar level which in turn prevents binge eating. It is recommended to drink three cups in a day.

13. Exercise
I have to credit my faster weight loss to exercise. You're probably saying "arrrghhh... exercise??? I have no time!" I used to have this as an excuse too but to be honest, it'll always be an excuse. We have been given 24 hours in a day and allotting an hour can make a huge difference! If you have to exercise at night time when you get home from work, school, kids are asleep etc. then go ahead. You can even break it down to, say, 20 minutes in the morning, 20 in the afternoon and 20 in the evening. There's no 'proper' time to exercise, it depends on your preference or convenience. Why do we need to exercise? It helps to build lean muscles; when you have lean muscles it will lead you to obtain a higher metabolism rate. It boosts health, energy and happiness level.

14. Have a cheat/treat day
YOLO! 'You Only Live Once' so we should give ourselves a chance to enjoy life's little pleasures. Although you're on the process of losing weight, it won't hurt if you have a day for some cakes, chocolates, pasta etc. It is recommended to have a certain day for it because you're programming your mind for a routine. My treat day is every Saturday and I would usually go to my favorite coffee shop, hang out for a long time reading books/writing/internet surfing while I devour a combination of coffee, frappe and cakes. Nevertheless, I remain mindful of my proportions and I make sure that I burn the calories that I ate when I get home.

Do you have some more tips to share on weight loss? Please leave those at the comments section below!

Good luck on your journey to a fitter body and a healthier lifestyle!
