REVIEW: Avon Extra Lasting Makeup Remover

avon extra lasting makeup remover

It's been a while since I last used a makeup remover on my face. I only decided to go back to using it when my skin looked awful about few weeks ago. Kasi naman... kung hindi pa nagkaka-negative result. Haha! :) Since my mom is an Avon lady, I always get the privilege to try out their products. Most of the time, libre pa! Thanks, Mom! :) Soooooo imagine my delight when I was strolling the Avon shopping area and I saw this Extra Lasting Makeup Remover!

Before I jump into the review, I want to stress out the importance of removing makeup thoroughly because in my recent experience, soap and water just don't do the job. Sleeping with makeup on, even just a bit or remnants, can lead to acne breakouts, accelerate the skin ageing process and make it appear dull.

CLAIMS:
Unique formula gently and effectively removes all traces of makeup, including water proof. Opthalmologist-tested, suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

PACKAGING:
Comes in a convenient plastic tube making it portable.

SIZE:
75 ML. net

SCENT:
None

PRICE:
199 php (Selling Price)

WHERE I BOUGHT:
Avon Iloilo branch

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Shake well. Saturate a tissue or cotton pad, close eyes and stroke over entire face, including lashes, lids and eyebrows. Gently wipe clean. Rinse off thoroughly with water.

WHAT I LIKE:
  • Its simple and portable packaging.
  • Removes waterproof makeup.
  • Doesn't sting my eye whenever I get the liquid on that area.
  • No scent. Scents can sometimes be annoying.
  • Readily available since there are lots of Avon ladies (and men) already.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
  • It is oil-based and I have oily skin = do the math. I'm kind of bothered by the oily feeling upon application; yes, I know that I can wash it off since it's a makeup remover, still I don't like it.
  • I need at least three swipes with the cotton to thoroughly remove the makeup which means that I need to use more product. I would appreciate if it's less than that.
  • A bit pricey for its size.

MY RATING: 7/10

REVIEW: Naturacentials Deep Cleansing & Whitening Bar

If there's one soap that I religiously use it's the Naturacentials Deep Cleansing & Whitening Bar; I've used this for a year now and that alone would tell you how its performance is for me.

So do I need to write a review? My intro is already a strong statement.  Haha! :)

Kidding aside, of course I will write this review because I want my lovely readers to know more about why I got hooked with this soap.

Naturacentials Deep Cleansing & Whitening Bar is a product of Alliance in Motion Global or more commonly known as "Aim Global"--- one of the top Multi-Level Marketing companies in the Philippines.

CLAIMS:
Credit: Google

PACKAGING:
The bar soap is enveloped with a thin white paper and placed inside a box.

SCENT:
None

SIZE:
4.76 OZ

PRICE:
170php (Selling Price)

WHERE I BOUGHT:
Business Center Office Iloilo but you can buy from any distributor in your area.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
I use this for both my face and body since it's an all-natural ingredients soap. Apply as you would of any soap.

The black side is the Bamboo Charcoal; the orange side is the Lumin8 Derma Complex

WHAT I LIKE:
  • Honestly, I got hooked because of the cooling effect of this soap. It has Peppermint as an active ingredient and it just makes my bathing experience awesome (given the usual hot & humid temperature in the Philippines)!
  • All-natural ingredients; it's nice to shy away from exposing my body to chemicals.
  • I don't see any sign of skin ageing.
  • I don't sweat as much since using this soap, not unless I do a rigorous physical activity.
  • One bar soap lasts me more than a month of usage.
  • It's more affordable compared to soaps from other MLM companies in the Philippines.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
  • I actually don't consider this as something that I don't like but I'm not sure if I also like it, does that makes sense? Well, here it is. I don't see a noticeable whitening to my already fair skin. Now with this, my honest opinion is that, this product gives a remarkable result when it comes to whitening if you're not fair-skinned prior to using the soap.

MY RATING: 9/10

DISCLAIMER:
I am an Alliance In Motion Global distributor but the opinions expressed in this review are all honest-to-goodness. One of the reasons that I joined this company is because I was able to try this soap and I instantly fell in love with it!

REVIEW: Celeteque Matte Moisturizer

Most Filipino women have oily skin and the humid temperature in the Philippines doesn't help at all! Being one of these women, I am always on the hunt for a face product that could lessen the sebum produced by my skin.

I found this Celeteque Dermoscience Matte Moisturizer at a Watson's branch in SM City Iloilo mall last year, however, I only used the product a couple of months ago.

We need to use a moisturizer to keep the moisture in the skin; which helps in making the skin healthy. Facial moisturizers can enhance the functioning of the stratum corneum, the uppermost layer of the skin. The stratum corneum is made up of fat, oil, and skin cells that help keep moisture in the skin. Once it's dry, brittle, or cracked, you've lost your shield and the skin is vulnerable to exposure from the outside and water evaporates from the dermis. You can get fissures on the skin, and infections can easily occur.

ACCORDING TO THE PACKAGING:

PACKAGING:
The moisturizer is contained in a plastic tube. Convenient.

CLAIMS:
SPF 30
UVA/UVB Protection
Dermatologist-tested
Non-Comedogenic (oil-free)
Hypo-allergenic

SCENT:
Subtle baby powdery scent.

SIZE:
50 ml

PRICE:
279php, if I remember it right.

WHERE I BOUGHT:
Watsons

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Usual application of any facial moisturizer.

Manufacturing & Expiration Dates

Thick consistency

WHAT I LIKE:
  • It's non-comedogenic meaning it's oil-free.
  • It has UVA/UVB protection (sun protection).
  • No weird or strong scent.
  • The price is okay.
  • It has a manufacturing and expiration date at the packaging.
  • A little goes a long way.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
  • I picked this item up as soon as I saw the word "matte"; by this word, I'm expecting it to lessen the sebum production on my face but so far I didn't notice any difference. However, this is great for people who are looking for a moisturizer that's oil-free and doesn't rip your wallet.

MY RATING: 7/10

REVIEW: Glysolid Glycerin Cream

The feet are the most used and abused part of our body so they actually need some TLC. Recently, I noticed that the heels of my feet were cracking... eeeekkk!!! If you slide silk on it, I'm sure it'll get stuck. Not sexy! That's when I knew that I've been neglecting my feet.

A few weeks ago, I was cleaning some parts of our house and I found a couple of tubs of Glysolid Glycerin cream from Saudi Arabia (my uncle works there and he always gives us this). Hmmmmm... why not try this? I thought to myself.

Glycerin is a humectant which means it keeps stuff moist. If you use this, it quickly restores softness, smoothness and elasticity of the skin. The active ingredients in Glysolid are Glycerin (skin softener) and Allantoin (stimulates skin cell regeneration and the healing of small injuries, scrapes and minor burns).

ACCORDING TO THE PACKAGING:
Glysolid is the advanced European formula that helps to smooth, soften and protect rough, chapped and extra dry skin on the hands, feet and entire body. With Allantoin and a high Glycerine content, this proven skin care cream greatly improves the look and feel of the dry skin in just one application. Non-greasy, Glysolid penetrates the skin in seconds and works for hours.

PACKAGING:
The cream is contained in a tin can which is easily deformed. Nothing special with its packaging.

INGREDIENTS:
Aqua, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Decyl Oleate, Ceteareth-12, Allantoin, Sodium Cetearyl Sulfate, Ceteareth-20, Dimethicone, Silica, Parfum ( Coumarin, Benzyl Salicylate, Linalool, Limonene, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl Benzoate, Geraniol, Isoeugenol) 2-Bromo-2 Nitropropane-1, 3 Diol, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

SCENT:
The smell is like that of a baby powder.

SIZES:
80 ml
110 ml
125 ml
250 ml

PRICE:
I don't know since our supply is just given by my uncle but I did a bit of research and turns out that it's priced at around 250php online for the 110 ml.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
Apply a thin film on the dry skin sparingly. I also cover this up with socks overnight and I wake up with baby-smooth feet.

WHAT I LIKE:
  • Glycerin in Glysolid is vegetable-based.
  • It's cheap when bought in Middle East countries.
  • Instantly softens the skin.
  • Healed my cracked heels and is also good for removal of calluses.
  • Mild scent.
  • Non- greasy.
  • A little product goes a long way.
  • There's a manufacturing and an expiry date.

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
  • A bit messy to apply.
  • Unhygienic due to scooping out of the product from the tin can using your hands if you don't have a spatula or scoop.
  • Can be a bit sticky if you put too much.
  • Cannot be found easily in the market.

MY RATING: 9/10

REVIEW: Careline Oil Control Liquid Foundation

I bought this item January of this year and has been sitting on my makeup stash ever since; I finally got around to use it today with the intent of making a product review (that's why I bought it in the first place).

I posted a photo of this on my Instagram account (beautywithgeline) and I got quite a few negative feedback on it. Nevertheless, I didn't let those comments cloud my mind so I wouldn't give prejudice to it for my product review.

I got this because of these two words- OIL CONTROL. I have a combination to oily skin type and the quest for the best foundation to keep my oils at bay never stops.

I was strolling Robinson's Place Iloilo cosmetics section when I saw this. I then remembered a couple of my subscribers/followers asked me to review Careline products (another line of Ever Bilena) so I gave it a "go". This product costs 90 PHP (2 USD), quite affordable.

If my memory serves me right, this has 3 shades available- Natural being the lightest, Beige and I don't know the other one which is supposedly the darkest. I would usually gravitate to beige shades but at that time, it was out of stock. So, I braved myself in getting the only available shade which is Natural.

Here's the swatch:

I know it looks a tad bit lighter than my skin color in the picture, probably due to the lighting and the bad picture quality, but it blended well to my face when I used it today.

Size:
15ml

Consistency:
It's liquidy so be careful when you squeeze it out, we don't want it splashed especially on your clothes. :)

Scent:
A hint of vanilla.

Coverage:
I would say that it has a light coverage because on my first application, I can still see my  freckles peeking through. I had to stack up 3-4 applications to get a decent coverage. Light-weight.

Longevity:
My oils started to make its way out a few minutes after I applied it.

VERDICT:
This is quite disappointing for me. I always get excited and with high hopes every time I am about to try any oil control/matte foundation, but only a few have been decent with their promise of keeping my face dry upon usage. This product didn't do any mattifying on my face even when I set it with a powder foundation. P.S. It's been raining a lot today so the weather's cool.

REVIEW: Silk Secrets One Minute Hot Oil Treatment

My hair's at its worst; it became dull, dry and lifeless. The reason was I totally took off the rail when it comes to my beauty regimens plus the chemical treatments.

Now that I think I've a little spare time, I should get off my butt and start going back to what I used to be ; OA with beauty regimens.. or a little less than that.

I saw my friend, Mae Rose of Patrine's Thoughts', haul/review a couple of months ago. She was raving about this One-Minute Hot Oil Treatment which she uses as her everyday deep conditioner. I thought I could try it too since we have the same problem. Hahahaha!

ITS PROMISE:

Silk Secrets One Minute Hot Oil Treatment moisturizes hair thoroughly and penetrates quickly into every hair strands, it effectively revitalizes refreshes and adds shine to hair.

PACKAGING:

I think that its packaging is just okay for its purpose.

SCENT:

It has this smell of a typical shampoo or conditioner being used in salons (Philippine-setting).

LASTING POWER:

It lasted for a month with everyday usage.

PRICE AND SIZE:

169.75 php ( 350 g)

WHERE I BOUGHT THIS:

I bought this in SM department store; you can also find this in any Watsons store.

OVERALL:

I am not raving about this. Didn't do anything to my hair; the promise of moisture and shine's no where to be found.  This should be a very promising product especially for women (and men) who are always on the go, since it only requires a minute before rinsing it off. I like that it has this minty-after-shower feeling though; totally refreshes my scalp.

REVIEW: Beauche Skin Care System

I realized that I haven't had any skin care routine lately. Though I'm thankful that my skin isn't giving me any difficulty, it still pays to take care of it. So about two months ago, I started my venture for legit skin care products that are out in the market.

Through my careful research, I came across the Beauche International skin care system. The complete set has seven products but I only bought 4. I purchased what I think are essential for my skin. So far, I've been seeing raves and fail reviews on it. Now, here goes my take on with it.

PACKAGING:

It looks pretty much like those skin care products from online stores here. Simple and should I say "practical"? I don't really mind it at all since I don't get to carry this around with me.

SCENT:

Toner- has a strong sweet smell, reminds me of a vanilla perfume.
Clarifying Lotion- has a mild sweet scent.
Rejuvenating Cream- no scent.
Beauty Bar soap- orange-y smell.

LASTING POWER:

The toner and clarifying lotion lasted for about two weeks of usage for me; I think it depends on how much product you put into your cotton ball. However, with the Rejuvenating Cream, it emptied around the third week; a little goes a long way with this. The Beauty Bar soap diminishes pretty fast so what I do is I cut the whole product into smaller portions, that way, I wouldn't get the whole bar wet upon usage. And oh, the soap lasted for more than a month with 2-3 times a day of usage.

REACTION:

My skin had a tingling sensation upon the very first usage of the Beauty Bar soap, it went for two more days; according to reviews, this is a normal reaction. It went away after the third day. When I use the toner and clarifying lotion at the same time, my skin feels stingy and it hurt.

PRICE & SIZE:

Toner- 80 php (60 ml)
Clarifying Lotion- (to follow; I forgot the price)
Rejuvenating Cream- (to follow; I forgot the price)
Beauty Bar Soap- 58 php (90 gms)

WHERE I BOUGHT THIS:

At their kiosk at SM mall. You can also find it at Robinson's mall and you may order from their dealers.

OVERALL:

Despite the reactions that my skin had, I still love these products. It works well on me. My skin lightened and  had a pinkish glow on my cheeks. Therefore, my face looks nice even without makeup.

REVIEW: HBC San-San Matte Finish Liquid Foundation

This is a review that I did on my previous blog, and today I'm feeling to post this entry here. =) I may have edited some information to give it a recent update.

Product Info:
  • 30 ml.
  • comes in three shades (01, 02 and 03)
  • 01 shade- very fair skinned; 02 shade- fair skinned; 03- morena skinned
  • I got this in its original price of 130-ish (sorry I forgot the exact amount.haha!) (approx. $3)
Ingredients:
  • Aqua
  • Silicone oil
  • Inorganic Mineral powder
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Retinol ( Vitamin A)
  • Tocopheryl Acetate (Vit. E)
  • Ascorbic Acid (Vit. C)
  • Glycerol Monostearate
  • Propyl Paraben

May contain:
  • Red Iron Oxide (CI 77491)
  • Yellow Iron Oxide (CI 77492)
  • Black Iron Oxide (CI 77499)
  • Titanium Oxide (CI 77891)

Coverage: Medium

What I like:
  • It's affordable.
  • One bottle lasted for a few months.
  • Small amount can cover up my entire face.
  • It doesn't give a "heavy" feeling on the skin upon applying.

What I Don't Like:
  • I don't like its packaging 'coz it's boxy and crystal-ish. hehe
  • It has three shades available, which can force you to buy two shades (mix those), if you find that yours doesn't fit any of it.
  • It has a coconut smell but it's tolerable actually. I just don't like it. :)
  • It's heavy (packaging) so I don't prefer carrying it around in my bag.
  • It still makes my face oily.

My Verdict:

This product is a so-so for me. I have super duper oily skin; oil still manages to see through even when I'm in an air-conditioned place when used alone. *sob* When I saw Maricarl Janah's review on her YouTube channel, I decided to try it out because she also has oily skin. Janah's raving about this foundation, so it made me more eager to check it out. I'm a little bit disappointed with this, because I still get oily a few hours after application. I need to have several blotting and re-touches (powder foundation).
Anyway, if you have a dry skin and prefers matte finish for a foundation, I'd recommend this. However, if you're oily-skinned, you can still try this. It might work for you! Lastly, if you're looking for an affordable liquid foundation, especially when you're just starting out with make-up, this is actually a nice grab.
